Street Fox Records (SFR) is Dan Krochmal's personal recording studio and artist retreat. Located in a forest glade in a remote area of the Pocono mountains, SFR was built as a tranquil sanctuary from city life. Approximately 2 hours from NYC and 2.5 hours from Philadelphia (and just around the corner from historic holiday resorts), it is the perfect place for an artist to immerse themselves in creating a record without distraction.
While primarily functioning as Dan's private production facility (where he records and mixes his own tracks), he also hosts and produces music for a variety of other artists. Artists can either visit for an afternoon, or spend a few days working on a project. The studio's guest suite has its own bathroom and deck access, and during warmer weather artists can take full advantage of the serene environment. There's even a lake at the end of the street with a nature trail around it!
THE SPACE
Currently the studio consists of an intimate one-room space, "Studio A", designed to be the perfect place to capture inspiration. It has a simple recording workflow that facilitates direct communication between producer and artist. Vocals are what sell a track, and Studio A is built around top-level vocal recording chains that can reproduce the human voice with the same quality as the best studios in the world.
In addition to vocals, Studio A is also equipped for recording guitars, keys, other acoustic instruments, and providing a well-treated critical listening environment for mixing and mastering. Drums can also be recorded on request. With its high ceiling and forest views, Studio A is the perfect space for any artist to create something special.
Street Fox will eventually expand to have a "Studio B" in the retreat's 1000 square foot basement. This second space will be geared towards recording larger projects. With a bigger area to work with, it will provide plenty of room for recording full bands, drums, and will even have a stage for artists to play on (and video) during studio sessions.
WHAT WE DO
Currently (in Studio A) we mainly cater to singer-songwriters and are best equipped to work on anything with primarily non-digital instruments. But please feel free to send us an inquiry about your project, and we'll tell you if we think we can help you bring it to life. Dan is also available for mixing projects.
Please contact us about our rates. Because this is our home and not a business space, we are able to provide affordable and flexible packages depending on what you need - so we can stress less and keep the focus on creating amazing art together. We can offer comprehensive day-rate deals that include accommodation for artists wanting to stay for a few days to work on something (Dan even cooks! ...And he makes a mean breakfast sandwich).
Thanks for reading! See below for the equipment list, more information, and contact details.
Studio A is built around a iMac Pro-controlled Universal Audio Apollo system with Neumann KH120A monitoring, in a space fully treated with GIK Acoustics panels and bass trapping. This is an intimate space, best suited to solo artists, guitar and vocal recording, and mixing. However, drums can also be tracked on request. Studio B will be designed to facilitate full-band recording.
We are constantly updating our gear and acquiring new pieces to provide the best possible creative palette for recording.

Dan has a Bachelor Degree of Audio Engineering and Sound Production (JMC Academy, Australia), and has been recording and mixing music for over ten years, both for himself and other artists. He has a comprehensive knowledge of Pro Tools and Logic Pro X (both for editing, and the skills required to create a balanced, evocative mix), in addition to the practical techniques and sonic aesthetics involved with recording vocals and other instruments.
His area of specialty is vocal recording. Dan is a full time recording artist and musician, recently made it to the final audition round of American Idol, and is a former top student of master vocal coach David Jaanz (AUS). This gives him an extensive understanding of the psychological aspects of singing and what it takes to pull artists into the right headspace to give an evocative performance.
- This is our home, not a hotel. We will have lots of fun, but please be respectful of the space and equipment. :)
- Dan will be present for all sessions (the studio can't be rented by itself)
- We can be flexible with work hours, but sleep is important and we also have other work schedules to consider.
- In the event of a power outage (not common, but they do happen here in the wilderness), sessions can be rescheduled where necessary. Outages do happen occasionally (usually only during storms or high wind) but are generally fixed within a few hours. We do have a backup system in place to provide enough time to save work.
We are based in the Pocono Mountains, approximately 20 mins east of Mt Pocono (accessible via bus). The studio is roughly 2 hours from NYC and 2.5 hours from Philadelphia.
